Hell’s Kitchen, also known as Marafa Depression, is a unique geological formation of sandstone canyons and gullies. Over time, erosion from wind and rain has sculpted the landscape into towering pinnacles, ridges, and valleys, creating a dramatic and otherworldly appearance.
It’s located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northwest of Malindi, Kenya. It makes for an exciting day trip if you’re staying in Malindi.
The name comes from the extremely high temperatures found within the depression, often reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day.
