By car

Driving directions from Malindi Airport to a hotel in Malindi

Exit the airport. After you have collected your luggage, exit the airport and turn left onto the main road.
Follow the main road. The main road is called the Malindi-Mombasa Road. Follow this road for about 10 kilometers (6 miles).
Turn left at the roundabout. You will see a roundabout with a sign for Malindi town. Turn left at the roundabout.
Follow the road into town. The road will take you to the center of Malindi town.

By train

How to get to your hotel by train

Find the nearest train station. The first step is to find the train station that is closest to your hotel. You can use a map or a search engine to find the nearest station.
Check the train schedule. Once you have found the nearest station, you will need to check the train schedule to see when the next train is departing. You can find the train schedule online or at the station.
Purchase a train ticket. You can purchase a train ticket online or at the station. Be sure to purchase a ticket that is valid for the train that you want to take.
Board the train. Once you have purchased a ticket, you can board the train. Be sure to find a seat that is not reserved.

Getting to your hotel by bus from the Airport:

Exit the airport: After collecting your luggage, exit the airport building.
Find the matatu stage: Look for the designated area where matatus (local minibuses) gather. It’s usually a short walk from the airport exit and easily identifiable by the many minibuses parked there.
Board a matatu to Malindi town: Ask for a matatu heading towards Malindi town centre. These are usually marked with “Malindi” on the windscreen.
Inform the conductor of your destination: Let the conductor know the general area of your hotel (e.g., “near the market”, or “close to the beach road”). They can usually advise you on the best place to get off.
Get off at the nearest stop: Matatus don’t have fixed stops, so you can ask to be dropped off at a convenient point near your hotel.
Walk or take a boda-boda to your hotel: If your hotel is within walking distance, you can walk. Alternatively, you can take a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) for a short ride to your hotel.
